How to use ShelfHub

Paper IDs, deposits, and linking from other servers

Paper ID and DOI

When a deposit is published, ShelfHub assigns an arXiv-style identifier such as 2609.00012 (year, month, sequence).

ShelfHub does not assign DOIs. We are not a DOI registration agency and we cannot mint, sell, or proxy DOIs. Do not label a ShelfHub ID as a DOI. Cite the ID together with the item URL.

If you later obtain a DOI through Crossref or a journal, put that DOI on the canonical paper (arXiv, SSRN, or the journal) and link from there to the ShelfHub mini-report.

What you may deposit

Full preprints are welcome. So are in-progress research documents, including:

  • The main paper
  • Supplementary papers and data notes
  • Mini-reports and mini-papers
  • Project prospectuses and research plans
  • Pre-research written before the main study
  • Reports drafted or edited with an LLM Deep Research workflow

Authoring tools we explicitly support

  • OpenAI ChatGPT Deep Research and PRISM-style OpenAI research/writing workflows
  • The Gemini web app and Gemini Deep Research
  • Other AI chat or agent apps used to draft or revise the main text, auxiliary papers, mini-reports, or pre-research

You remain responsible for rights, accuracy, and citations. See the Terms for the AI submission policy.

Using ShelfHub with arXiv, SSRN, and journals

You may post the main paper on arXiv, SSRN, or a journal. We encourage it.

From that main paper you may link to ShelfHub mini-reports, mini-papers, pre-research, and Deep Research notes. Quote the ShelfHub ID and URL (for example https://shelfhub.org/paper/2609.00012).

On ShelfHub you may also point readers to the arXiv ID or SSRN page of the main paper.

How to submit

  1. Create an account and verify email.
  2. Use the submit page for title, abstract, authors, field, and PDF.
  3. A Paper ID is assigned at publish time. No DOI is assigned.
  4. Later edits are versioned. Open older PDFs from the version picker and Version history on the paper page.

Progress projects

Projects (after login) hold YAML configs, tasks, and collaborators while a paper is being written. They are not the public preprint. Deposit the finished PDF through the normal submit flow.

Closing an account

You can close an account from the settings screen. Published papers and PDFs remain. We keep the registered email address, do not show it publicly, and do not allow a new account with the same address. Sign-in stops. If a paper must be removed, delete it on that paper’s edit screen before you close the account. Read section 9 of the Terms, Closing an account and what remains, and the privacy policy.

API

Machine access lives at /api/v1/. Authenticate with a session, a JWT, or an API key via Authorization: Bearer. See the API section on the home page.

If translations of these Terms or the How to use pages differ, the Japanese version prevails.
